Nantwich litter pick volunteers target town “grot spots”

Nantwich community leader Anna Burton joined members of the Nantwich Litter Group this week to blitz an area of the town plagued by litter.

The team of 10 environmentally minded residents collected a dozen bin bags full of cans, bottles, crisp packets, cigarette butts and “disposable” vapes in just a couple of hours.

Confusion over £750,000 Sect 106 money for Nantwich town centre

Nantwich councillors are still not clear what they can spend £750,000 of Section 106 money on in the town – two and half years after receiving the funds.

The money comes from the planning conditions imposed on developers building the Kingsbourne housing development.

The opening comes two years after consultation results showed residents wanted the toilets back open after years of being closed.

A debate which took more than an hour descended into arguments and heated remarks, with one saying “it’s Handforth Parish Council all over again”.
