Nantwich councillors consider “dogs on lead” campaign

Town councillors are considering a campaign to urge dog owners to keep pets on leads around Nantwich Lake and the Riverside.

It comes amid a number of recent incidents involving dogs attacking or chasing wildfowl.

Members of Wistaston Swans WI have hand-painted 350 pebbles to commemorate Poppy Day.

The pebbles are now on display on the low black ledge at the front and both sides of Wistaston Memorial Hall on Church Lane.

Nantwich residents have voiced fears over poisonous food being left out for birds along River Weaver, prompting a warning from the RSPCA.

It comes after one reader spotted pieces of mouldy bread which had been scattered along the path by the river bank off Davenport Avenue and Manor Road.
