14 quiz teams battle it out for Wistaston Fred Lorimer Trophy

Fourteen teams of four people battled it out in six rounds of questions at Wistaston’s annual quiz for the Fred Lorimer Trophy. Quiz-masters Peter and Christina Wainwright took charge of the event for the first time at Wistaston Memorial Hall, after Geoff and Sheila Armitage stepped down after more than 20 years.

Firefighters had to rescue a man from his flat during a kitchen fire in Wistaston. Crews wearing breathing apparatus forced their in through a ground floor window of a block of flats on Mulberry Road where they discovered the man.

A team of Nantwich fundraisers are setting out to paddle 127 miles down the River Severn for local charities. The group of 12 friends and family, called The Paddlers, hope their four-day adventure will raise £10,000 for five different causes.
