LETTER: Why I support RNID’s ear wax campaign

Dear Editor,
I am writing to support RNID’s ear wax campaign and share my personal experience of struggling to get ear wax removal.

I haven’t been denied a wax removal but know that I can’t get one if I need one without paying a fortune privately.

LETTER: Crackdown on over-running utility works

LETTER: Crackdown on over-running utility works

Dear Editor,
When utility company roadworks overrun, it’s motorists who pay the price with congestion, detours and longer journeys.

This is why I’ve announced a plan to crack down on works by utility companies overrunning.

LETTER: Cheshire East Council – reserves, revenue and risk

Dear Editor
Okay, council finances are dry reading but CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy) offers a useful explanation of Council Reserves because reserves are important.

They 1) cushion the impacts of uneven cash flows and avoid temporary borrowing. 2) provide a contingency for unexpected emergencies and 3) can be ‘earmarked’ to meet anticipated requirements.

In one of the documents of Cheshire East Council Budget Consultation, you show that central support has dropped for £55M to near zero over 10 years, then state that “The council must therefore do things differently for less”

LETTER: Boundary changes make election hard to call

LETTER: Boundary changes make election hard to call

Dear Editor
Everyone knows that there will be an election this year, and most people will be aware that boundary changes have redrawn the electoral map, so even though the polls suggest a big swing to Labour its harder to predict this one.

Sam Dixon, the popular sitting MP for the old Chester constituency, is standing for Labour in the new Chester North and Neston.

LETTER: Rishi Sunak is “squatting” in Downing Street

LETTER: Rishi Sunak is “squatting” in Downing Street

Dear Editor
This tired and discredited Government has now been running for 14 years, through five Prime Ministers and a musical chairs game of Ministers flip-flopping from one post to another, sometimes after only weeks in the job.

LETTER: HS2 silver lining for Audlem?

LETTER: HS2 silver lining for Audlem?

Dear Editor,
When the government announced its plans to scrap HS2, the region around Crewe was devastated but now it appears that there may be a silver lining to the cancellation.

Questions are being asked by residents of the village of Audlem in Cheshire as to whether, with the plans the government has announced to open more branch lines and invest more locally in the north west, the old train line to Audlem which finally closed in 1967 is going to be reopened and the station rebuilt!

LETTER: Crewe Alex – FA Cup twilight robbery

LETTER: Crewe Alex – FA Cup twilight robbery

The Alex were robbed. How can they have 6 minutes (plus 13%) added time on top of 45 minutes and then go an extra 1.07 minutes over the 6.

There were substitutes but that is the part of the game today so should be included as part of the match.
