Cheshire East Council chiefs have been using taxpayers money to maintain more than 500 green space plots of land which may be privately owned.
Director of environment and neighbourhood services Paul Bayley said the authority has been maintaining 547 parcels of land not registered as being owned by the council.
The new A51 Reaseheath bypass should be open by end of October, residents have been told.
An update on the road was given at a parish council meeting last week as it emerged how many homes have now been occupied on the Kingsbourne housing development.
