Cheshire East Council struggling to fill 75 care provider vacancies

Cheshire East Council has 75 full time vacancies it is struggling to fill at its Care4CE service provider at a time when pressure is mounting with more people needing care.

The council is ramping up its recruitment efforts but Jill Broomhall, operational director of adult social care at Cheshire East Council, said the private sector was struggling too, with lower paid staff leaving for higher paid jobs in other sectors and managers being head-hunted.

Covid numbers are falling among schoolchildren but one Cheshire East school had 14 teachers off on one day, councillors were told.

Mark Bayley, head of service for education infrastructure, said the real hotspots for schools last week was in Congleton, parts of Macclesfield and in Wilmslow.

St Luke’s Hospice staff and volunteers have raised a tree-mendous £40,000 from their Christmas Tree Collection scheme.

More than 60 volunteers teamed up between January 13-16 to collect 2,824 individual Christmas trees from people’s homes in return for donations for the Hospice.
