Cheshire East Council chiefs are confident they will balance the books this financial year and next – but insist the future is less certain.

More than 200 roads including many rural lanes in and around Nantwich will be taken off Cheshire East Council’s gritting routes after councillors approved the plan.
The controversial policy, which will come into effect from October this year, has been met with fierce criticism with many saying the council is putting lives in danger.
Cheshire East Council has been given £400,000 of Government funding to help the borough’s rough sleepers.
The council will receive £438,329.30 from a £112 million pot as part of the government’s rough sleeping programme.
