Organisers of Nantwich Words & Music Festival have unveiled a top line-up for the town’s tenth annual event, including a debut for poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy.

Other headline acts range from alternative rock band THERAPY? (pictured) to British rock quartet Tom Robinson and Band and iconic English poet Roger McGough.

Cheshire Police ruled “inadequate” in HMIC crime recording report

Cheshire Police has been ruled “inadequate” by a Her Majesty’s Inspector of Constabulary (HMIC) report into its crime recording processes.

HMIC inspectors, who are reviewing all forces around the UK, estimated that up to 11,600 crimes were not being recorded properly by Cheshire.

Nantwich RSPCA appeal after swan found shot and cygnets missing

The RSPCA is urging residents to look out for local wildlife after a swan was taken to Stapeley Grange wildlife centre in Nantwich with multiple injuries – on the same day seven of her cygnets went missing.

The swan, nicknamed Mabel, is a known character on the River Weaver in nearby Northwich, along with her mate Albert and their nine cygnets.

Stamp design by Nantwich schoolgirl makes national final shortlist

A Nantwich schoolgirl’s stamp design has made it through to the last 24 of a national Royal Mail Christmas competition.

The entry by Grace Rebecca Lewis, aged 10, will now go through to the final stage of the competition, with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales choosing the final two designs to feature on this year’s 1st and 2nd Class Christmas stamps.
