Interim CEC employee earned more than £112,000 in six months

Four top officers at Cheshire East Council earned more than £100,000 – including one interim staff member who was paid £112,404 for six months’ work.

If pension and other benefits are included, eight individual staff members cost the council more than £100,000 between April 2021 and March 2022.

Residents on a South Cheshire housing estate are living in unsaleable homes with no planning permission on potentially contaminated land because a developer “appears to have put profit first”, councillors claimed.

Countryside Partnerships was given permission to build the 263-home Coppenhall Place development on the former Bombardier site in 2018 – but because it failed to deal with a condition relating to contaminated land the estate has no planning permission.

Cheshire East is to set up its own council-run children’s homes to provide a “loving and supportive environment” for youngsters who can’t live with their own families, writes Belinda Ryan.

The council will take over two independent homes in Crewe and Macclesfield this year, following a recent mutual decision to terminate the contract with the current commissioned provider.
