A Nantwich radio presenter is gearing up to cycle across Cuba – 250 miles in just five days. Helen Pegg, who works on The Cat community radio station, has signed up for a journey of a lifetime.

By Jonathan White Cheshire East Council Leader Michael Jones faced concerned villagers in Wistaston over controversial housing development plans. He attended a packed Wistaston Parish Council meeting to discuss plans by developers for thousands of new homes in the village.
A new group called “Hands Off Wistaston” has been set up to protect the village’s Green Gap from development. Campaigners hope the group will help defend Wistaston against “unnecessary, unsustainable and unwanted development”.
By Jonathan White Scores of villagers crammed into Wistaston Memorial Hall to view plans unveiled by Gladman Homes for 330 new properties. The public exhibition showed plans for the homes on land known locally as ‘Witter’s Field’, in Wistaston.
Wistaston residents flocked to see a Muller Property Group exhibition of their proposals for up to 1,500 homes in the village. Scores of villagers took time out to view the plans and air their concerns to Muller representatives at The Woodside pub.
More than 200 residents crammed into a village hall to air concerns on plans to build 1,800 new homes near Nantwich. Muller Property and Gladman Properties are targeting land off Middlewich Road and Church Lane, in Wistaston.
The Cats Protection Crewe & District group is to stage a fund-raising event in Wistaston this weekend. It takes place in Wistaston Memorial Hall on Church Lane this Saturday April 13 from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

A ten-year-old schoolboy from Nantwich has swapped the classroom for the boardroom to run a group of recruitment companies. Dominic Marshall took charge of Absolute Recruitment for a day to oversee the running of the firm.
