St Mary’s Church in Nantwich will stage a ‘poppy spectacular’ Remembrance to honour those killed in action.
The church has teamed up with the British Legion and Nantwich Town Council in memory of those who sacrificed themselves to secure and protect the nation.
A voluntary group is calling on more Nantwich and Crewe people to join their drive to commemorate the First World War with thousands of knitted poppies.
Crewe and Nantwich Senior Forum has made 450 knitted poppies – but needs 2,500 in time for Remembrance Sunday in November.
Residents, councillors, and members of the Royal British Legion packed into Wistaston Memorial Hall for Remembrance Service. They were joined by members of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from the Wistaston 35th SWC Scout Group.
Thousands gathered in Nantwich and surrounding villages to pay tribute on Remembrance Sunday. A service and parade took place in Nantwich town centre and St Mary’s Church.
Nantwich students have joined forces with the Royal British Legion to help raise funds through this year’s Poppy Appeal. Members of Reaseheath College’s Students Association hope to raise £3,500 by selling poppies at Crewe Railway Station until Remembrance Sunday on November 11.
A remembrance service will take place next week to celebrate lives of children and babies born at Leighton Hospital. The annual service, organised by Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT), is at St Peter’s Church in Minshull Vernon on Saturday November 10 at 3pm.
More than 170 people attended the Service of Remembrance at Wistaston Memorial Hall. Residents, parish councillors, members of the Royal British Legion, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers from the Wistaston 35th SWC Scout Group all turned out in force.
