Tories furious over CEC Labour plan for household support fund

Labour’s plans to use the household support fund to help hard-up Cheshire East pensioners who lose their winter fuel allowance could leave the elderly and vulnerable families worse off, Cheshire East Tories claim.

Thousands of pensioners across the borough will lose their winter fuel allowance of up to £300 after the government scrapped it for all except those on pension credit or other eligible benefits

Cheshire East Conservatives challenge parking charges decision

Cheshire East Tories are challenging the decision to introduce parking charges in free towns and hike up prices in others saying flawed data was used and relevant information wasn’t considered.

Former council leader Rachel Bailey (Audlem, Con) has called-in last month’s highways committee decision to implement a new charging policy across Cheshire East and asked that it be referred to full council for further debate.

New garden waste charges won’t rake in as much, CEC councillors warn

Cheshire East is unlikely to rake in the millions it forecast by introducing garden waste charges and the knock-on effects could impact the council’s carbon neutral target, the Tories claim.

Plans to introduce the charges were voted through as part of the budget in February.
