St Luke’s Hospice has received a New Year’s boost after two of its festive fundraisers helped raise more than £80,000.
The ‘Elf Run’ and ‘Christmas Tree Collection’ fundraisers collected the amount which is vital to help fund hospice care in 2023.

An indoor ‘Christmas Tree Festival’ takes place on Saturday December 3 (9am to 5pm) and Sunday December 4 (12pm to 5.30pm).

The annual ‘Tree of Light’ in Nantwich was illuminated at a ceremony on Sunday.
Several hundred people gathered outside the west doors to St Mary’s Church for a short service of prayers, a hymn, a poem, and a song.
Typically, tree surveys are carried out on either private or public landscapes.
The main purpose of having a tree survey carried out is to determine any useful information about the trees in the area.

A man was airlifted to hospital after his car ploughed into a tree on a country road at Chorley, near Nantwich.
The incident happened on Nantwich Road near Wrenbury. Police, air ambulance and fire crews attended the scene.
Mean-spirited thieves swiped a village Christmas tree and its lights.
The thefts happened in Wistaston where the tree, its retaining post and its lights in the flowerbed were removed and stolen from outside the Memorial Hall off Church Lane.
Nantwich would normally be thronged with thousands of people for the annual Christmas Lights switch on in one of the town’s biggest events.
But despite the public switch-on being cancelled in line with Government’s social distancing and lockdown guidelines, Nantwich town centre is still decked out in stunning multi-coloured lights to create a festive atmosphere.
Fire crews from Nantwich put out a small fire on land off Chester Road in Alpraham.
The fire involved a tree, fencing and a manure heap in a field at around 6.10pm last night (May 29).
Fire crews were called out to tackle a tree on fire on land in Calveley, near Nantwich.
The incident happened 11:20am yesterday (March 29) on land off Nantwich Road, Calveley.
More than 6,000 trees are being planted across the borough, Cheshire East Council has said.
It follows a motion backed by a unanimous vote at full council last May which called for a commitment of being carbon neutral by 2025.
