Nantwich fireman honoured for ‘exemplary service’

A Nantwich fireman was one of 19 in Cheshire to be honoured with a Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.

Kevin Smith, based at the Beam Street fire station in the town, was among those hailed by Chief Fire Officer Paul Hancock at a ceremony.

New signs and sculpture to be unveiled at Nantwich Lake

People are being invited to a day of celebration at Nantwich Lake to see new information signs and a swan sculpture unveiled.

The event, from 11am to 3pm on Tuesday April 7, has been organised by Cheshire East Council with the help of Ansa Environmental Services Limited, the RSPCA and The Dogs Trust.

Cheshire Farm Ice Cream fined after worker’s finger was severed

A well-known ice cream maker in Cheshire has been fined for safety failings after a worker’s finger was cut off by a fruit feeder machine.

Tattenhall Dairy Products Ltd, which operates at Cheshire Farm Ice Cream, was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive after the incident at Drumlan Hall Farm in August 2013.

A derelict gasworks in Nantwich used as a town car park will be built on after ministers waived a £400,000 bill owed by Cheshire East Council.

The St Anne’s Lane Gasworks, off Welsh Row, has stood derelict for a quarter of a century, and used by many residents and local employees as a car park.
