Cheshire East roads could get worse next winter, councillor fears

Roads across South Cheshire could get a whole lot worse next winter.

That’s the warning from Cheshire East Council Conservative Cllr George Walton who says not enough work has been done to patch up the borough’s roads after last winter.

12-year-old Woore CC batsman hits unbeaten 70 against Crewe

Twelve-year-old Matthew Kenvyn scored his first ever 50 in men’s cricket when he opened the batting for Woore CC 3rds against Crewe.

Although Woore were beaten, the youngster scored a remarkable 70 not out having carried his bat throughout the innings in the Stone and District Sunday League.

Councillors are urging Cheshire East Council not to go ahead with unpopular plans to charge up to £35 for replacement wheelie bins.

The local authority revealed plans to introduce charges for new and replacement bins in its budget for 2018-19.

A motorcyclist died after a collision on the A530 Middlewich Road near Nantwich which closed the road for most of the day.

The incident happened near to the junction of Colleys Lane, close to the Alvaston Hall Hotel, yesterday (June 17) at around 11am.

Shavington nursery Roundabouts to get garden revamp from homebuilder grant

The Roundabouts Day Nursery in Shavington is to enjoy a garden revamp after receiving a community donation from homebuilder Taylor Wimpey Manchester.

The nursery, which turns three-years-old this year, has been given £500 to build higher fencing and a new gate, to ensure the safety of the children, as well as to provide more plants and outdoor covering.
