18-week wait for treatment at Leighton Hospital quadruples

The number of patients waiting more than 18 weeks for treatment at Leighton Hospital or Victoria Infirmary has almost quadrupled in 12 months.

Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which owns and runs both sites, has revealed that 1,011 patients were waiting longer than 18 weeks for treatment following referrals to its hospitals in June 2018 – compared to just 271 in June 201

Town councillors in Nantwich say CCTV is effective in the town after five teenagers were caught on camera vandalising flowers and plants.

Nantwich Police officers were able to identify and trace the youths from the CCTV images catching them in the act in the town square and Pepper Street.

Hundreds of Leighton Hospital patients are still failing to be seen within four hours at A&E as it deals with more people than last summer.

Figures shown at a Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust board meeting revealed patients waited to be seen at A&E on 1,473 occasions in June – compared to 437 times in the same month last year.

Tom Oliphant hailed an “awesome” team performance after he secured his highest finishes in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton.

The Tarporley-born racer finished with a pair of eighth place finishes in Norfolk, and now looks to build on that when the championship moves to Rockingham Motor Speedway on August 11-12.

A former kickboxing champion has unveiled plans for a star-studded charity boxing night at Nantwich Civic Hall raising cash for causes close to his heart.

It will be a big night for South Cheshire businessman Ken Lawton who is returning to the ring almost 30 years since he won the British Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Championship.
