NINE separate flood warnings along the River Weaver are today in place from the Environment Agency including areas in around Nantwich.
Heavy rain for over 24 hours from Storm Babet has seen huge amounts of water into the Weaver which has overflowed its banks in a number of places.

Fly-tipping costs Cheshire East Council £239,000 a year but it has a “dismal” record for dealing with offenders and issued just 22 fixed penalty notices for 4,456 offences, councillors heard.
A national league table published by the Department of Environment, Food & Rural Affairs revealed Cheshire East was 211 out of 308 councils when it came to issuing notices (FPNs) for fly-tipping.

Cheshire East Council has not priced up the costs of introducing charges on its free car parks – including having to buy and install meters.
The council is currently consulting with the public on proposals to introduce charges on most of its free car parks and to hike up the fees on most of those which already have pay and display, including Nantwich.

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition opposing the possible closure of three household waste recycling centres in Cheshire East.
The petition has been organised by local Liberal Democrats after the council’s environment and communities committee agreed last month to go out to consultation next spring on proposals which could see the tips at Poynton, Bollington and Middlewich close.

Aquadots Swim School has applied to Cheshire East Council for permission to change the use of Unit 2, The Training Centre at the Wistaston Road Business Centre from office and light industrial to an indoor swimming pool.

The Environment Agency are believed to be investigating reports of “slurry” pollution in the River Weaver in Nantwich.
Witnesses say the EA has confirmed “a slug of slurry” is making its way down the river, causing the deaths of many fish along the watercourse.
