A former Chatwin’s bakery shop in Nantwich town centre looks set to become a bar serving up gin, cocktails, beer and wine.

Three Wrens Gin is also seeking permission from Cheshire East Council to use the ground floor property on Pepper Street for “compounding and rectification of spirits” on-site.

Leighton Hospital bosses have applied to Cheshire East Council for permission to extend ward 26 at the maternity department and build a modular operating theatre.

Ward 26 is the main birthing facility at the Crewe hospital and the department has been in its current location for about 40 years.

Three Cheshire East tips expected to close in April look set to be mothballed rather than permanently shut – with a final decision being taken in September.

Cheshire East’s environment and communities committee voted by six to five in favour of recommending that there be an “emergency reduction of household waste recycling centres (HWRC)… from April 1, 2024, in advance of the formal HWRC review being presented to committee later in 2024”.
