Overnight snow has forced headteachers to close secondary schools in Nantwich and Shavington today.
The schools made the announcements in the last few minutes for “safety reasons”.

Nantwich Station has been ranked in the bottom 100 out of more than 2,600 across the UK for trains arriving on time.
The station is 2,567th out of a total of 2,633 according to a website which rates stations for trains being on time.
Work on new Leighton Hospital to start in 2026

A planning application for the new Leighton Hospital should be submitted by April next year with the aim of construction starting at the end of 2026.
Chris Knight, programme director at Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust, said the new building would be the size of about 15 football pitches and be sited on land which had been bought next to the existing hospital.
Full steam ahead for Nantwich community railway project
A Nantwich Miniature Railway Group has completed a new track extension after gaining support from local students and Transport for Wales.

Cheshire East Council has approved plans for 18 homes on the Doddington Estate near Nantwich with the ward councillor saying the revised application is an improvement on the first which was “shoddy and grossly incomplete”.
The 18-home scheme is the first of 12 applications which will be submitted for a total of 112 homes over the next decade on Doddington Estate land at Bridgemere.
