Families flock to Reaseheath College lambing weekend in Nantwich

Families flocked from far afield to enjoy Reaseheath College’s Lambing and Zoo event in Nantwich at the weekend.

Tickets for the popular event were sold out well in advance and the college welcomed a capacity crowd of 2000 visitors on each day.

The council’s highways and transport committee narrowly voted in favour of asking for a feasibility study to be undertaken into engine idling and enforcement.

District nurses have been unable to reach some patients since Cheshire East stopped gritting certain routes and there have been several accidents on icy roads, councillors said.

Cheshire East Council axed a number of roads from its gritting schedule this winter following the introduction of new scoring criteria which adheres to national guidelines.

Cheshire Police wants to close helpdesks at stations in Nantwich as well as Knutsford, Winsford, Chester Town Hall, Ellesmere Port, Stockton Heath, Penketh, Runcorn, Congleton and Wilmslow.

Active travel campaigners are asking Cheshire East to work with HS2 to create a greenway network north of Crewe to Middlewich and Winsford.

Peter Foster, of Active Travel Crewe, said HS2’s environmental statement says “a key aim is to create a green corridor along the new railway, in particular through the provision of additional funds to help stakeholders realise their own green infrastructure projects”.

Nantwich’s 38th South West Cheshire Scout Group has a new temporary home at Reaseheath College while the group prepares for the demolition and rebuild of its headquarters.

The scout troop and cub pack are now meeting in one of Reaseheath’s carpentry workshops while the beaver colony has a classroom in the construction department.
