The Green Party has put up 34 candidates for the Cheshire East Council election.
The party has never won a seat on the borough council and is hoping it can change that this time round.

Cheshire East Council will definitely have at least 21 new faces after this week’s local elections because of the number of councillors standing down – but will it be under the control of one party?
Cheshire East residents are being urged to remember their ID when they vote at polling stations on Thursday May 4.
Voters will need to show photo ID at polling stations before they can receive their ballot paper.
Thousands of families across Cheshire East have received their preferred primary school place, education bosses say.
Cheshire East Council received almost 4,000 applications for places in its 120 primary schools to start in September 2023.
The May 4 local elections sees a major change for Nantwich Town Council which is being split into three wards and will elect 15 councillors in total.
Boundary changes mean the town council will cover a larger population and area.
Nantwich Food Festival is such a hit with exhibitors more than 90% have already re-booked for the 2023 event, organisers said.
The festival attracts well over 200 exhibitors across the three-day festival, said event director John Coulter.

More than a quarter of Cheshire East’s 82 councillors are not seeking re-election next month.
Altogether, 21 sitting councillors of various political persuasion have decided not to stand again.
Councillors in Willaston and Wistaston met with Roads Minister Richard Holden to air concerns about the state of local roads caused by utility works.

Four top officers at Cheshire East Council earned more than £100,000 – including one interim staff member who was paid £112,404 for six months’ work.
If pension and other benefits are included, eight individual staff members cost the council more than £100,000 between April 2021 and March 2022.

All 82 seats are up for grabs in next month’s Cheshire East Council elections.
Altogether 254 candidates are standing across the borough, with the Conservatives putting forward the most candidates at 81 and Labour fielding 60.
A service that supported people to live independently in their homes and community has come to an end after supporting nearly 100 people in the last year.
The Reconnect Service provided by home support and repairs organisation Revival, was commissioned by Cheshire East Council in April last year.
Cheshire East Council has won government backing for two new schools for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The successful bid means the Department for Education will build two new special schools, in Middlewich and Congleton.

A 188-home scheme for Nantwich which has been in the pipeline for more than 10 years has been approved.
Cheshire East’s strategic planning board was unanimous in giving the thumbs up for the reserved matters application from David Wilson Homes and Muller for the phase one development on land at Peter Destapleigh Way in Stapeley.
