A Nantwich youngster enjoyed a festive surprise from Cheshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner after winning a a Christmas Card competition.

Eight-year-old Romani Rhodes-Fowles was visited by PCC John Dwyer and PC Panda at her Bridgemere CE Primary School.

A Reaseheath College trained butchery apprentice has proved a cut above by winning a gold medal at the WorldSkills UK Butchery national finals.

Jason Edwards, 27, completed his FDQ Diploma in Professional Butchery (Level 2) at the Nantwich college last year and manages Littlers Butchers in Hartford.

Amy Damatt, of Wellington Road, wrote the educational children’s story “A Puppy’s Tale by Rex” from the perspective of a rescued pup living with his owner and dogs of different ages and sizes.

Cllr Laura Smith (Crewe South, Lab) told a meeting of the children and families committee she had an interest because she has a child in year six.

Mark Bayley, head of service for education infrastructure and outcomes at the council, said 46% had so far agreed.
