Tarporley students celebrate GCSE success

Tarporley High School Year 11 students achieved outstanding GCSE grades with 77% of students achieving 5 A*-C including English and Maths GCSE.

The class of 2015 sustained the tradition of impressive results, especially in English and Maths with over 80% of students achieving A*-C in these subjects.

Students broke A-level records at Tarporley Sixth Form College with 64% awarded top A Level grades, A*-B.

Today’s results show students outperformed targets with 35% of all grades awarded being at the very highest level of A*/A.

Decibellas choir raises £1,900 at Bunbury concert

Decibellas Women’s Choir of Tarporley hosted a concert with Llangollen Male Voice Choir, to raise funds for St Luke’s Cheshire Hospice.

The men’s motto “Cyfeillgarwch drwy Gan” (“friendship through song”), formed the theme with both choirs performing pieces from repertoires and joining for a rousing finale.

Tarporley Sixth Form students took part in their own hustings debate with the five main election candidates for Eddisbury.

Sixth formers, staff and governors watched the debate involving Antoinette Sandbach (Con), James Laing (Lab), Ian Priestner (LD), Andrew Garman (Green) and Rob Millington (UKIP).

Drivers are being warned of major road closures on the A49 and A51 near Nantwich.

Night works on the A49 Whitchurch Road and A51 Nantwich Road in Bickley and Tiverton will see the roads closed between 7pm and 2am.

Cheshire Farm Ice Cream fined after worker’s finger was severed

A well-known ice cream maker in Cheshire has been fined for safety failings after a worker’s finger was cut off by a fruit feeder machine.

Tattenhall Dairy Products Ltd, which operates at Cheshire Farm Ice Cream, was prosecuted by the Health and Safety Executive after the incident at Drumlan Hall Farm in August 2013.

£218,000 lottery grant to fund Community Agents in Nantwich villages

Cheshire Community Action has been awarded £218,000 over three years to provide more Community Agents for rural villages around Nantwich.

The Community Agent schemes aims to help those who don’t live near a town centre and find it hard to access services or the internet.
