Police and RSPCA continue to probe dog found dead in Nantwich canal

Police and RSPCA say they are continuing to investigate the death of a dog found in a canal in Nantwich with heavy chains around its body.

The grim discovery was made by walkers by bridge 89 which spans the Shropshire Union Canal south of Marsh Lane and north of the A530 Whitchurch Road.

Four dads from Wrenbury have raised thousands of pounds for Wingate Children’s Centre after cycling the iconic ‘Coast to Coast’ route from Workington in Cumbria to Sunderland.

Plans for 41 homes on the outskirts of Wrenbury near Nantwich have been rejected by a planning inspector after a two-day appeal.

Gladman Developments appealed against the Cheshire East Council decision to refuse permission for the houses on a green field site, claiming the authority could not demonstrate a five-year supply of housing land.
