Developers are looking at open a new “park and ride” with filling station on land next to the A51 Burford crossing near Nantwich.

A “scoping opinion” application has been submitted for the proposed petrol filling station, coffee outlet
and 50-bay park ‘n’ ride with EV charging.

Council chiefs say highways engineers “worked tirelessly” to complete works on the busy A51 at Wardle near Nantwich which was closed for 16 weeks.

Work to stabilise 750 metres of carriageway began in August and required the complete closure of one of the busiest roads in the borough.

Three days of icy, non-gritted roads near Nantwich and Audlem saw “three catastrophic accidents and the school bus cancelled”, the former leader of Cheshire East Council said.

Cllr Rachel Bailey (Audlem, Con) told a full council she had not intended speaking on the winter gritting programme and had planned to ask a question about home school transport.

Fire crews were able to free the victim from a van which had collided with a car on the Kelsall Bypass.
