More than 150 people dressed as Santa and took part in the Nantwich Festive Fun Run. The event, which was started by Stoke City star Ryan Shawcross, helped to boost funds for Hope House Children’s House.
Father Christmas will be touring Cheshire in style this festive season thanks to St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. Santa has swapped his reindeer and sleigh for Luke the Bus – a former London Routemaster bus restored by Bentley Motors.

By Claire Faulkner A string of local performers shone when they appeared live at a Talent Showcase in Nantwich Civic Hall. The event, organised by Nantwich Town Council and community radio The Cat, attracted acts who volunteered their time to raise money for the Mayor’s charities.
Contestants tested their endurance to the limit in a “Tough Mudder” event held at Cholmondeley Castle near Nantwich. Around 7,500 competitors lined up to take on a 12-mile Cheshire assault course, including 22 obstacles, ice baths, electric shocks, fire, and miles of mud.
Wannabe Strictly stars in Nantwich can now sign up to compete in the 2013 “Strictly Learn to Dance” competition. The event, to help raise funds for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice, proved a big hit last year with the final at Nantwich Civic Hall.
Crewe and Nantwich RSPCA volunteers will be out shopping this weekend – for donations of food for sick animals. The group will be in the Nantwich Sainsbury’s on Middlewich Road tomorrow (Nov 17) holding a collection for food and donations.
Salvation Army Trading Company’s Nantwich charity shop is holding a Christmas sale extravaganza. Shoppers visiting the Beam Street store on Thursday November 22 will be picking up festive deals and helping to raise money for good causes into the bargain.
The RSCPCA’s Stapeley Grange wildlife centre is to hold its Christmas Fayre on Saturday November 25. And Santa will be dropping in to meet the young visitors to the centre on London Road in Nantwich.
Nantwich firefighters will be cleaning up tomorrow when they take part in a charity car wash. The part-time fire crews are offering to wash cars at Nantwich fire station on Beam Street in return for a donation to charity.
Nantwich folk are being urged to wear a Santa outfit for a day – and earn cash for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. The charity is staging its “Wear a Santa Suit” fundraising fortnight from November 26 to December 10.
A showcase event is being planned to prove that Nantwich’s Got Talent. Nantwich Town Council and community radio station The Cat are organising the event to be staged next month.
Organisers have announced the date and line-up for the Boxjam charity music event for South Cheshire. The event, held at The Box venue in Crewe, is part of the national ‘Oxjam’ fundraiser for Oxfam.
