Land off Broad Lane in Stapeley and Hack Green, near Nantwich, were both considered for possible permanent gypsy sites by Cheshire East Council, it has emerged. They were on a list of 11 sites seriously considered before the council settled on land off Parkers Road/Kent Lane, in Crewe.

Roads are re-opening in Nantwich following the huge blaze at a scrap metal yard on Alvaston Business Park this morning. The only road still closed is the westbound carriageway of the Nantwich  bypass between Reaseheath and Sainsbury’s roundabout (as at 11.15am Oct 7).

UPDATE… Fire crews continue to battle massive blaze in Nantwich

This is the scene of today’s massive blaze at Alvaston Business Park which has caused traffic chaos in and around Nantwich. Firefighters were called to the fire at Garratt’s scrap metal yard, off Middlewich Road, at about 6am this morning (Oct 7). The fire was found to involve a large quantity of scrap metal which is on the site.
