The Cheshire East countryside access forum wants to see an end to irresponsible driving on narrow country roads – particularly on unmarked roads which are set at the national speed limit.

National campaign group 20 is Plenty – which has local branches in Nantwich, Crewe, Congleton, Sandbach, Wilmslow and Bollington – is again urging the council to lower the speed limit in built-up areas.

Cheshire East Council road chiefs say there has been a “sharp decline” in compensation claims for pothole damage – and that 95% of claims are rejected.
