A Nantwich councillor has urged Cheshire East to fast-track new bus contracts in the Nantwich rural area because residents have been left with no service since the end of August.
D&G Bus stopped running the 70, 72 and 73 services from September 1, impacting passengers in Nantwich, Wrenbury, Audlem and Bunbury.
The former Mayor of Nantwich has resigned as a councillor with immediate effect.
Stephanie Wedgwood was Mayor of the town in the year 2023-24.

A former Cheshire East leader has asked why councillors were not informed of reports the council is being investigated by police.
Audlem Cllr Rachel Bailey (pictured) referred to a story in the Congleton Chronicle which stated police were investigating accusations of misconduct in public office at the council.

A cyber attack on Cheshire East would be ‘catastrophic’ and the council should ‘wargame’ a hypothetical situation to see how it would cope, a councillor said.
Cllr Andrew Kolker (Con) was speaking at the audit and governance committee and questioned whether the council was adequately prepared in the event of such an attack.

Head teachers impacted by Cheshire East Council’s decision to scrap its school meals service should consider a not-for-profit model such as one which operates in Liverpool, a Crewe councillor said.
The council’s loss-making catering service is due to close next April, leaving 87 schools looking for alternative providers.
Nantwich Town Council are seeking to elect a new councillor to replace Cllr Daniel Bull.
Cllr Bull has recently vacated his role as councillor representing the North ward of the town.

A Nantwich councillor has asked if Cheshire East Council has plans to introduce a programme to help people quit vaping amid a rising numbers of young people using vapes.
Cllr Anna Burton’s comments came as a recent support showed the percentage of young people in Cheshire East claiming to vape regularly has almost doubled since 2020.
The former Crewe & Nantwich MP Laura Smith has quit the Labour Party, and launched a stinging attack on what she called its culture of “bullying, belittling, fear and lack of respect”.
Ms Smith made the announcement just days after being suspended by the local Cheshire East Labour group.

A councillor had raised concerns about a busy road junction in Crewe after another accident there.
Cllr James Pratt says there have been several bad collisions at the junction of Frank Webb Avenue and Badger Avenue.
