Officers in charge of buying healthcare across the borough have spoken out against the ‘scale of savings proposed’ in Cheshire East Council’s next budget.
The local authority ran its pre-budget consultation for 2019-20 last autumn, and revised proposals will be put before councillors later this month to be signed off.

County lines is the practice of urban drug dealers using children to sell drugs in rural areas, villages and smaller towns.

Action is being demanded to fill Cheshire East’s potholes after councillors complained that patched up roads are breaking back up.
Cllr Mick Warren, independent member for Macclesfield East, told Thursday’s full council meeting that two potholes in his ward have broken back up just three weeks after they were repaired.

Independent members of Cheshire East Council are calling on residents to get behind a petition which could shake up the way decisions are made.
The group – which includes 13 councillors – has launched the ‘Change Cheshire East’ campaign to give councillors of all political persuasions a bigger voice.
Work is set to start on the controversial Taylor Drive – Edmund Wright Way ‘link’ route in Nantwich.
The link has sparked protest from residents living close to it, but others say the link is essential to ease traffic along Welsh Row and Queens Drive and should have been built years ago.
Nantwich will receive around £320,000 over the next two years for new schemes as part of the Government’s New Homes Bonus.
Now award groups are being set by councillors to help decide how to spend the money.
A Nantwich resident made an impassioned plea to councillors to save a vital bus route between the town and Leighton Hospital from the axe.

More than £150,000 being spent on consultants brought to rid Cheshire East Council of bullying will not solve the problem, the Labour group leader insists.
A report from the Local Government Association (LGA), commissioned by Cheshire East, found that almost a quarter of council staff were aware of workplace bullying in the second half of 2017.
