Trust boss says work on new Leighton Hospital to start in 2027

A Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust boss says they are pushing for work on a new Leighton Hospital to start in early 2027.

It comes after Health Secretary Wes Streeting confirmed this week that the rebuild would go ahead for seven hospitals build wholly or mostly from RAAC.

Groundworks will start at Leighton Hospital in January for a new modular building next to the entrance of the Outpatients Department.

The building, scheduled to arrive in early March, will house Audiology and Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) services, which are due to relocate to the new facilities in summer 2025.

Cheshire East schools NOT affected by danger of RAAC concrete

No schools in Cheshire East are affected by the current RAAC concrete fears across the UK, officials have confirmed.

Cheshire East Council says it has carried out checks on its maintained schools and said there is no evidence they contain the concrete type which has led to fears of buildings suddenly collapsing.
