CEC garden waste scheme opens for renewals and new subscribers

Subscriptions to renew or sign up for the first time to Cheshire East Council’s Garden Waste Recycling Scheme have opened today.

Residents will need to opt-in to the scheme to use their garden bin to recycle green waste and will pay an annual subscription fee for their bin to be collected.

The Environment Agency has investigated 54 farms as part of their probe into slurry pollution incidents which hit the River Weaver in Nantwich in 2023, it has emerged.

And they have taken 40 actions in total – including eight site warnings, four warning letters and one notice as part of the long-running probe.

The venue formerly known as Nakatcha bar and club in Nantwich is set to re-open later this year, its owners confirmed today.

It comes three months after the popular nightspot on Welsh Row closed suddenly in July when previous publicans said it was “unsustainable to continue”.
