It was held at the Basmati Bangladeshi & Indian restaurant in Nantwich and featured a four-course meal, a fundraising auction, and a talk from Gary Fear, a volunteer aiding Ukraine.

CEC delays over election costs threaten town and parish councils, says councillor

Cheshire East is jeopardising the financial stability of some town and parish councils by delaying telling them how much they will have to pay for local election costs, a councillor has said.

The decision to get the lower tier councils to stump up the costs for their local elections for the first time, was included in Cheshire East’s budget in February this year.

Cheshire East Council has approved plans for 18 homes on the Doddington Estate near Nantwich with the ward councillor saying the revised application is an improvement on the first which was “shoddy and grossly incomplete”.

The 18-home scheme is the first of 12 applications which will be submitted for a total of 112 homes over the next decade on Doddington Estate land at Bridgemere.
