Cheshire East Council is to stop companies advertising unhealthy food and drinks on council-owned land, buildings and vehicles.

The new policy was adopted last week and will be rolled out by the director of public health.

A South Cheshire charity founded in memory of a young woman who died of triple negative breast cancer has won a major award for its impact.

The Shine Bright Foundation, created in loving memory of the inspirational Sarah Bennett from Crewe, won the coveted ‘Charity Impact Award’ sponsored by ‘Phenomenal Women’ at the Butterfly Breast Cancer Awards 2024.

Cash-strapped Cheshire East Council is closing its new £11 million multi-storey car park in Crewe on Sundays because it can’t afford operating costs seven days a week.

The 390-space town centre car park opened at the end of July, six months later than it should have done, after being plagued with problems during construction.

CEC garden waste scheme opens for renewals and new subscribers

Subscriptions to renew or sign up for the first time to Cheshire East Council’s Garden Waste Recycling Scheme have opened today.

Residents will need to opt-in to the scheme to use their garden bin to recycle green waste and will pay an annual subscription fee for their bin to be collected.

The M6 northbound in Cheshire is fully open again after a serious crash involving an HGV which plunged 60ft off the main carriageway.

The vehicle fell off the motorway in heavy rain near Thelwall Viaduct between junction 20 and 21 at around 6.50pm last night (September 30).
