Cheshire East’s entire Covid-related costs have been funded by the government to date and not the council.
The revelation comes after the authority predicted the impact of the Covid pandemic would cost about £70 million and swallow up the council’s reserves.

The news was confirmed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson in a statement to the House of Commons this afternoon.
Crewe Lyceum Theatre has received a total of £231,387 in grant funding from the Department of Media, Culture & Sport’s (DCMS) £1.57bn Cultural Recovery Fund.
The fund, set up by the government in July, makes urgent support available for cultural organisations that were financially stable before the COVID-19 pandemic.
