Cheshire East highways chiefs have failed to repair around 15 faulty street lamps near one of the busiest road junctions in the region – despite knowing for five months
Several motorists have reported the faulty lighting on the A500 on approach to junction 16 of the M6 as well as the B5078 off the same roundabout.
The M6 motorway was closed southbound today between Junctions 17 and 16 in South Cheshire after a lorry hit and damaged a bridge.
The incident happened around 6am this morning and North West Motorway Police say the motorway could be shut for several hours.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a young woman died in a multi-vehicle smash on the M6 in Cheshire.
The 19-year-old victim was a passenger in a Volkswagen Polo, one of four vehicles involved in the crash northbound between Junction 16 for Nantwich and Junction 17 Sandbach.

Overnight road closures are now in place from 7.30pm – 5:30am, seven days-a-week, until Saturday November 30.
Drivers are being warned that the key A500 route between M6 and South Cheshire will be closed overnight for almost two months from October 21.
The closure, to allow initial work on the £55 million dualling project, will be in place between A531/B5472 Meremoor Moss roundabout and M6 Junction 16.
