READER’S LETTER: North West Crewe Package packs an 80 week punch! – Who knew?

READER’S LETTER: North West Crewe Package packs an 80 week punch! – Who knew?

Dear Editor
Anyone living in and around Crewe is now well aware that the A530 Middlewich Road is closed with sections out of bounds until November 2023.

A couple of weeks in and we’ve seen the mayhem caused by the loss of this key route from Nantwich to Middlewich, a ‘confusion’ of diversion signs and have our own ‘personal’ tales to tell of the knock-on impacts.

READER’S LETTER: Why are Middlewich Road works taking 80 weeks?

Dear Editor,
The closure of Middlewich Road is causing total traffic chaos and gridlock in Crewe.

This can’t be allowed to continue for 80 WEEKS. Why will it take so long?

Dear Editor
Once again, the annual search for the UK’s favourite National Lottery funded people and projects will recognise those individuals and organisations who have made an extraordinary impact in their community – especially during these unprecedent times.

In 2018 Crewe residents were promised a £48m Royal Arcade masterplan, a new cinema, gym, restaurants, shops, a 450 space multi storey car park and a new bus station, off Victoria Street and Queensway, by Christmas 2020.

Artist Impression of Crewe Market Hall

READER’S LETTER: What was £3m spent on at Crewe Market Hall?

Dear Editor,
I used to have a butcher’s stall in Crewe Market Hall. It was a very busy market, inside and out.

Now Cheshire East have spent an unbelievable £3 MILLION to turn the Market Hall into a food and drinking hall.

READER’S LETTER: Don’t accept huge energy payment rises

Dear Editor
My supplier (E-on next) contacted me yesterday (19th) to tell me what they were increasing my monthly DD too.

In simple terms they were putting it up by £124 per month (84%) from the level I paid in March 2022.

We were promised that work would begin in January. We are now told it will be nearly May before building work begins.

READER’S LETTER: Warning of gift card scams

Dear Editor
I recently heard of a Wistaston resident who was the victim of a gift card scam.

Anyone being asked to pay a bill, transfer money or invest using gift cards such as Google Play Store and Amazon via a cold call or unusual request are being targeted by a scammer.

Dear Editor,
Minshull Vernon and District Parish Councillors are jubilant that they have won their battle for survival.

The Borough Council did not put forward one valid reason for their proposed abolition.

READER’S LETTER: Balancing the Budget – time for a wider view

Dear Editor,
So the Cheshire East Council budget has now been set, a complex document that will bill residents another 2.99% council tax and describes which services will be delivered.

But the legal obligation of councils to deliver a balanced budget, inevitably results in the annual ‘turbulence’ of councillor, accountancy and political opinion as experienced this week.

READER’S LETTER: Will CEC “rainy day” £8 million pot be used?

Dear Editor,
On Thursday (24/2/22) at Cheshire East Council, I sat listening with sadness to the pleas of my fellow Conservative Cllrs as they repeatedly asked the Labour and Independent Coalition to not vote through their 2.99% Council Tax proposed budget for 2022/23.

READER’S LETTER: CEC Leader “berated” residents at Budget meeting

Dear Editor,
We had an interesting meeting at Cheshire East Council (24/2/22) when the members were called to debate and discuss the budget for 2022/23.

Sadly, the first hurdle we had to cross was the unpleasant behaviour of the leader, Cllr Sam Corcoran, as he berated the residents who attended to speak at question time.
