Nantwich accountant’s cycling marathon for children’s toy appeal

A Nantwich accountant is totting up the proceeds after completing a gruelling cycling marathon to raise money for a children’s toy appeal.

Peter O’malley, a director at Afford Bond, was part of a team who completed the Giro D’Italia conquering a gruelling 2,300 miles across Italy with steep climbs, adverse weather and sickness along the way.

Cheshire East Council chiefs have been criticised for failing to mention a retrospective pay rise was already being considered when it consulted with the public on proposals to freeze councillors allowances for 2023/4.

As reported last week, the council’s corporate policy committee agreed to recommend that councillors’ basic allowance be increased by £500 a year and be backdated for 2022/3.
