Cheshire East Council has refused a 28-home development for Audlem – even though the consultation period didn’t end until an hour after the decision was made.
Tabley Homes and Renew Land applied for permission to build the homes on a field east of Audlem Road.
A property management group says it is looking at “different solutions” for a footbridge in Stapeley which has been closed for safety reasons.
The footbridge is on privately owned land on the Pear Tree development, linking Massey Close with Beechwood Close and the nearby shops.
A motorcyclist was taken to hospital today after a collision with a car on the A534 near Burland, Nantwich.
Emergency services were called at around 12.50pm today (August 31) to the junction of Cuckoo Lane and the A534.

Councillors and neighbours have objected to plans for treehouse-style lodge holiday scheme at Faddiley near Nantwich.
Cheshire East planning officers have recommended approval for the application for four new holiday lodges and the conversion of an existing building to a lodge at Sevenoaks, Hearns Lane, despite objections from neighbours.

A concert in memory of John White took place at Wistaston Memorial Hall.
The concert, organised by Diane Edge-Robinson (Chair of Wistaston Memorial Hall), featured Crewe Concert Band.
Two local music festivals are set to be held in the Hankelow and Audlem area later this month.

The annual Wistaston ‘Duck Race and Children’s Model Boat Race’ makes a welcome return after the pandemic.
The event is scheduled for Saturday September 10 at the Joey the Swan recreation ground in Wistaston.

Cheshire East Council could prevent councillors from working in the best interests of residents if it passes the new revised members code of conduct as it stands, a Shavington councillor believes.
Cllr David Marren (Ind) told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the rule of “not bringing the council into disrepute” could be interpreted as preventing councillors from criticising the authority because criticism may damage the council’s reputation.
Fire crews were called out to free a person who was trapped between two vehicles in Tarporley.
