Stapeley businesswoman Laura Smith has been selected as Labour parliamentary candidate to fight for the Crewe and Nantwich seat in June.

The 32-year-old was selected by the Labour group ahead of the party’s 2015 candidate Adrian Heald.

A Willaston family who’s daughter died from a heart defect aged just 22, are to stage a fund-raising Fashion Show in her memory to try and save other lives.

Funds raised will go towards the Ceri Palmer (nee Howells) Memorial Fund and help pay for heart screenings of young people.

A High Court judge has thrown Muller Property a lifeline in its bid to build a controversial 1,100-home ‘Nantwich South’ village in Stapeley.

The judge has quashed a decision by the Secretary of State last August which had refused Muller’s attempt to overturn Cheshire East Council’s original rejection of the development’s first phase.
