“When the Light Goes Out” Cheshire East First World War commemoration
A four-year programme of activity to commemorate the First World War will come to a spectacular end in South Cheshire with two closing events taking visitors on a poignant journey back in time.
Cheshire East Council’s “When the Light Goes Out” events – part of the Cheshire East Reflects programme – will take place on November 10-11 and will mark the centenary of the Armistice through memories, performance and sound.
Ghost tours at Nantwich Museum among Halloween events
Ghost-ridden tours are being organised by Nantwich Museum to add to the town’s spooky Halloween celebrations.
The ‘Nantwich Hallowe’en Ghost Trails’ will be led by Richard and Lyn Gumm, actors who have regularly appeared on TV and in films.
Mayor launches 11th Nantwich Words and Music Festival
The 11th Nantwich Words and Music Festival was launched to a packed room of performers, volunteers and guests at Nantwich Civic Hall last night.
Guests were treated to singing by the talented Weaver Primary youngsters with organiser Nigel Stonier on the guitar.
New Christians Against Poverty Job Club launches in Nantwich
A new CAP Job Club has been launched in Nantwich.
The Christians Against Poverty initiative aims to give people the confidence to get back in to employment.
Remembrance Day in Nantwich to commemorate 100 years
The Nantwich Branch of the Royal British Legion will hold a Remembrance Day Parade and Service to commemorate 100 years since guns fell silent on November 11, 1918.
The parade will form up at Nantwich Civic Hall on the morning of November 11.
‘Wheels of War: Past & Present’ military show at Crewe Heritage Centre

The annual ‘Wheels of War: Past & Present’ military vehicle show took place at Crewe Heritage Centre.
The show featured military vehicle displays including a replica Spitfire fighter aircraft and a replica V-1 flying bomb, trade stalls, model displays, and a tombola.
Nantwich Museum seeks funding for “Empowerment of Women” exhibition
Nantwich Museum is seeking funding for its forthcoming exhibition “Empowerment of Women – a local perspective”, which is due to open on Tuesday October 30.
The exhibition celebrates the centenary of the earliest successes of the women’s suffrage campaign.
Bike fans enjoy Crewe and Cheshire old school BMX social ride

More than 40 old school BMX bike fans met up at Crewe railway station for a social ride in and around the town.
They rode from the station to Ye Olde Manor on Nantwich Road for breakfast, then onto the Wonderful Wistaston path to The Rising Sun Inn on Middlewich Road.

Beer fans tucked in to the 6th ‘Crewe Rail Ale Festival’ at Crewe Heritage Centre.
There was a choice of more than 60 beers and ciders/perries in different styles and strengths, plus free soft drinks for children and designated drivers.

Nantwich Mayor David Marren joined in the 50th anniversary celebrations of the South Cheshire Model Engineering Society.
The society held a gala event at its headquarters behind the Peacock Hotel, on Crewe Road, Nantwich.

Crewe District Writers’ Circle is to host a Fair at the Nantwich Baptist Church.
The Writers’ Fair is on September 29, from 10am to 4pm.
Crown Hotel teams up with Rodney Densem for Food Festival gin event
The Crown Hotel and Rodney Densem Wines have teamed up to run a gin tasting evening as part Nantwich Food Festival.
The event on Friday August 31 will also include food, drink and live entertainment.
