New Nantwich campaign group bids to clean up River Weaver

Residents in Nantwich have launched a new “Clean the Weaver” campaign group after a series of pollution leaks into the river have killed thousands of fish.

Two major slurry spills have been recorded in the past week alone, which has been destructive for fish and wildlife along the river.

RSPCA Stapeley warning after swan shot dead on River Weaver

RSPCA bosses in Nantwich are urging people to be on their guard after a swan was shot and killed on the River Weaver near Winsford.

The adult female bird was spotted on the river and taken to Stapele Grange wildlife centre where x-rays (pictured) confirmed she had been shot in the head by an air rifle.
