A new on-demand rural bus service to help reduce isolation and connect rural areas with Nantwich has been launched by Cheshire East Council.
The new “go-too” pilot scheme covers a large area south and west of Nantwich, including Bunbury, Wrenbury and Audlem and other villages, where no commercial services are available.
Up to 230km of roads will be removed from Cheshire East Council’s winter gritting routes, the authority has confirmed.
The review into gritting – called “Well-Managed Highway Infrastructure” (WMHI) code of practice – will see 103km of roads added to the routes.
Nantwich residents are to be asked for their views on plans to introduce an on-demand rural bus service.
It aims to reduce isolation in some of the more rural areas of the borough around Nantwich including Bunbury, Wrenbury and Audlem.
