Miserly yobs in Nantwich have vandalised the town square’s Christmas tree and stolen decorations – just days after they were unveiled to thousands at the Lights Switch-on event.
Angry councillors and staff hit out at the offenders for putting a dampener on the festive spirits.

Thousands of people enjoyed the Nantwich Christmas Lights switch-on which lit up the town square last night (November 19).
Families young and old enjoyed live music and song, fair rides, refreshments and a firework display during the event.
Youngsters from 16 schools across Nantwich entertained packed crowds in the town at the annual Skoolzfest event.
Children sang their hearts out on a stage set up in the town square.
Nantwich is set to be packed out when it stages the annual fete and Skoolzfest tomorrow (July 2).
The event is a joint initiative between Nantwich Education Partnership which embraces the local schools, and St Mary’s Church.

Town criers from around the UK were in fine voice in Nantwich at the annual Town Crier Championships.

A Nantwich Museum flagday in the town has helped raise vital funds for the Pillory Street venue.
