Members of Nantwich & District Branch of the Royal British Legion have planted five trees in a new Commemorative Garden at Volunteer Fields in Nantwich.
The idea of a commemorative garden was originally suggested by branch member Peter Epton and was supported by the other members.
Fire crews had to tackle a fire which damaged tall conifer trees and a shed and fence in Nantwich.
The fire broke out on Davenport Avenue at around 12.30am this morning (May 24).
Nearly 900 trees are being planted at Combermere Abbey near Nantwich to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee
The 889 trees will also commemorate the number of years since the abbey was established in 1133.

Local scouts are helping to run a Christmas tree collection and recycling scheme.
The scheme run by the 1st South West Cheshire Scout Group (The Andrews) in Crewe will raise money in aid of local Scouts, to support local children between 6-14 to gain skills for life.
