LETTER: Support for national charity Living Streets

LETTER: Support for national charity Living Streets

Dear Editor,
I am writing in support of national charity Living Streets’ call to see 60% of children walking to school by 2029.

Fewer than half of primary school aged children walk to school in England, this is a drop from 70% a generation ago.

LETTER: Dualling of the A500 road

LETTER: Dualling of the A500 road

Dear Editor,
Instead of this, how about resurfacing the current roads and trim the foliage on the trees that are covering the road signs that show the speed limit and directions.

Especially if you’re a tourist or new to the area you want to know where you are and the speed limits!

LETTER: Flowers Lane traffic lights near Leighton Hospital

Dear Editor,
I managed to get some action following a complaint from a resident.

I wrote to Cheshire East Highways: “Flowers Lane, near Leighton Hospital is now closed, so could the traffic light for Flowers Lane be turned off to help traffic flow? Cars are taking ages to get through.”

LETTER: Govt should have policies to appeal to all

LETTER: Govt should have policies to appeal to all

Dear Editor,
The Government get a lot of unfair criticism, but they have policies which should appeal to everyone irrespective of their views.

If you want economic growth, they say they do too, but if you don’t, you’ll be reassured that in reality the economy is flatlining.

LETTER: Dog owners beware of rising vets’ bills

LETTER: Dog owners beware of rising vets’ bills

Dear Editor,
In light of recent investigations into the possible exploitation of pets’ bills and treatment, I feel all owners need to be aware of how quickly these can escalate without much information from a vet.

An ‘over-zealous’ vet could well assure you that there is a desperate need for all procedures they recommend.

LETTER: Chancellor’s Budget was a “confused exercise”

LETTER: Chancellor’s Budget was a “confused exercise”

Dear Editor,
What a confused exercise the Chancellor’s Budget turned out to be, pointing in all directions.

He claimed to have cut taxes, but because of the stealth tax increases he and Rishi Sunak introduced earlier, the record level of tax will increase not decrease.

Cllr Janet Clowes

LETTER: Leisure centre rhetoric offers no guarantees

Dear Editor,
Last November, I robustly challenged the Labour-led administration’s plans to cut four “shared leisure centres” aligned with four of our high schools.

After further public consultation, I attended Monday’s E&C Committee meeting where it must be said, important progress had been made.

LETTER: Cheshire East short of common sense, not money

LETTER: Cheshire East short of common sense, not money

Dear Editor,
Labour run Cheshire East are not short of money. Cheshire East is short of good management and common sense.

If the Council was managed properly there would be no need for the usual inflation busting Council Tax increases each year.

LETTER: CEC school meals service needs exploring

Dear Editor
Your report on the school meals service identifies a major cost item of CEC that needs to be explored further.

It shows how CEC is top heavy. Commenting on the report is a Director of Strong Start, Family help and Integration PLUS a Head of Children’s Development & Partnership.
