LETTER: Faux outrage over Nantwich carparks

LETTER: Faux outrage over Nantwich carparks

Dear Editor,
It was with utter disbelief that I read your article (15th May) covering Nantwich Town councillors ‘blasting of plans’ to remove the cash payment option on local carparks.

This policy was put in place by the Labour and Independent administration running Cheshire East.

LETTER: Risha Sunak “dismissing” what voters are telling him

LETTER: Risha Sunak “dismissing” what voters are telling him

Dear Editor,
Despite his nationwide string of defeats in last Thursday’s elections, Rishi Sunak says he’s confident that voters will “stick with” the Conservative Party at the next election.

That would be a novelty, given that even his own party members did not stick with him – when he went head to head with Liz Truss to be Tory leader, they voted for her instead of him, and as the loser he only got to take her place after she crashed the economy.

LETTER: Exposing Cheshire East’s financial “Elephant in the Room”

LETTER: Exposing Cheshire East’s financial “Elephant in the Room”

Dear Editor,
In 2019, Children’s Services had a £1.6 million surplus.

However, the Labour-Independent administration has since accrued Special Needs debts of £90 million, which if not addressed will rise to £1.2billion by 2031.

LETTER: CEC wants views on air quality – has it really improved?

LETTER: CEC wants views on air quality – has it really improved?

Dear Editor,
It has come to my notice that CEC are requesting views on the above which have to be submitted by 17th May 2024.

Many people will not be aware of this due to the methods for consultation used by CEC and finding your way around their website or purchasing local papers.

LETTER: The impact of abolishing NI on pensioners

LETTER: The impact of abolishing NI on pensioners

Dear Editor,
Pensioners do not pay National Insurance.

So the Chancellor’s announcement that if re-elected, the Conservatives would aim to abolish National Insurance, would not benefit pensioners by a single penny.

LETTER: Police vehicles parking on double yellow lines

Dear Editor,
Two police vehicles were parked on double yellow lines outside Crewe Police Station on Thursday morning.

I emailed the Chief Constable to ask for a response.

LETTER: Middlewich Eastern Bypass Put on Hold

LETTER: Middlewich Eastern Bypass Put on Hold

Dear Editor,
The Labour/Independent-run Cheshire East Council has been asked to re-think the Middlewich Eastern Bypass scheme in the light of significant delays, soaring costs and failure to submit a sufficiently robust business case.

LETTER: Ban retail developments outside town centre

LETTER: Ban retail developments outside town centre

Dear Editor,
Ban retail developments outside Town Centre. #CreweFirst says that Cheshire East should ban any new, out of town centre, major shopping developments in Crewe.

There is now a huge gaping hole in Crewe Town Centre where the, doomed from the start, #RoyalArcade development, was planned to go.

LETTER: Excellent job on “the Promenade” in Nantwich

LETTER: Excellent job on “the Promenade” in Nantwich

Dear Editor,
It has taken a while but the Borough Council have done an excellent job in restoring and improving ‘the Promenade’ – that area of paving overlooking the old mill race, opposite the Castle Court flats on Waterlode, near the footway to Mill Island.

LETTER: Save Crewe Town Centre from oblivion

LETTER: Save Crewe Town Centre from oblivion

Dear Editor,
This is how #CreweFirst would revive Crewe Town Centre.

Labour-run Cheshire East needs to re-think plans for Crewe Town Centre…and urgently… before the entire Town Centre collapses like a house of cards.

LETTER: Support for national charity Living Streets

LETTER: Support for national charity Living Streets

Dear Editor,
I am writing in support of national charity Living Streets’ call to see 60% of children walking to school by 2029.

Fewer than half of primary school aged children walk to school in England, this is a drop from 70% a generation ago.

LETTER: Dualling of the A500 road

LETTER: Dualling of the A500 road

Dear Editor,
Instead of this, how about resurfacing the current roads and trim the foliage on the trees that are covering the road signs that show the speed limit and directions.

Especially if you’re a tourist or new to the area you want to know where you are and the speed limits!

LETTER: Flowers Lane traffic lights near Leighton Hospital

LETTER: Flowers Lane traffic lights near Leighton Hospital

Dear Editor,
I managed to get some action following a complaint from a resident.

I wrote to Cheshire East Highways: “Flowers Lane, near Leighton Hospital is now closed, so could the traffic light for Flowers Lane be turned off to help traffic flow? Cars are taking ages to get through.”
