Late night shopping proved a ‘big success’ in Nantwich with the organiser paying tribute to fellow traders as “simply the best”.

More than 30 stores joined in the shopping spectacular on Thursday night which also included entertainment and Nantwich Market Hall opening late.

Three-weekly black bin collections will be introduced across Cheshire East from April 2026 – despite heavy opposition from residents and some councillors.

The environment and communities committee voted narrowly by seven to six yesterday (Wednesday) to change to a three-weekly collection, with one councillor saying “the fact is we can’t afford to not do this”.

18 new homes on country estate near Nantwich set for go ahead

An 18-home development looks set to be approved on land at a country estate near Nantwich which is expected to see a total of 112 dwellings over the next decade.

Outline permission for a 112-home scheme on 12 sites at Doddington Estate, off the A51 at Bridgemere, was granted at appeal in 2020 after Cheshire East Council refused the application.

Two Flood Warnings along the River Weaver in Nantwich remain in place today after Storm Bert brought heavy rain over the weekend.
