Cheshire residents will have to pay 4.99% more in the police precept from April, adding an extra £12.50 to the annual bill for a band D property.

The £12.50 increase to the policing element of the Council Tax bill amounts to an extra £1.04 a month for a band D household.

The devastated friend of a young student killed in a horror car smash has hit out at the Prison Service over its plans to move the man responsible to an open prison just a year into his sentence.

Charlotte Hope was killed when her car was hit head on by Ashley Kosciekowski, who was driving at up to 90mph in his BMW while on cannabis on the A53 near Shrewsbury.

Cheshire Police Crime Commissioner “sorry” for schoolgirl skirts comment

~Cheshire’s police and crime commissioner has apologised for an “inappropriate and unacceptable” comment he made about schoolgirls wearing ‘very short skirts’ and said he is not a misogynist.

John Dwyer made the comment during a meeting of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council back in November in a discussion about abuse and violence faced by women and young girls.
