A four-week programme of roadworks at one of Nantwich’s busiest junctions was finally completed today.
And signs erected earlier this week which suggested the works at the junction of Elwood Way and Newcastle Road would be extended by four weeks appear to have been “inaccurate”.

A domestic abuse charity which has provided help for survivors and their children for nearly 50 years faces closure of some services after Cheshire East axed its funding.
Cheshire East Council has told MyCWA (Cheshire Without Abuse) there is no more money available from April 1, 2025.
High Street bank NatWest is to close its Nantwich branch in June, it was revealed today.

Cash-strapped Cheshire East Council could be looking to close four of its libraries to cut costs, campaigners fear.
It is feared that the libraries at Alderley Edge, Bollington, Disley and Handforth are all under threat of closure from next year.
Audlem Post Office is set to close from this Saturday March 2, it has been announced.
The Post Office say the closure of the Cheshire Street branch is “temporary”.
The M6 motorway was closed southbound today between Junctions 17 and 16 in South Cheshire after a lorry hit and damaged a bridge.
The incident happened around 6am this morning and North West Motorway Police say the motorway could be shut for several hours.

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition opposing the possible closure of three household waste recycling centres in Cheshire East.
The petition has been organised by local Liberal Democrats after the council’s environment and communities committee agreed last month to go out to consultation next spring on proposals which could see the tips at Poynton, Bollington and Middlewich close.
A lack of volunteers is forcing St Luke’s Hospice to close some of its shops on busy days.
And there are fears that there will be more closures among its nine stores in the future.
Flowers Lane near Leighton Hospital is to close for 22 weeks from Monday June 26.

Cheshire East says they need to close the road for essential works where Finnaker Brook flows under the lane.
