Nantwich Town Council has missed out on funds to pay for community projects under the New Homes Bonus scheme, councillors were told.

The council had submitted a number of bids for a share of the £162,000 pot made available under the New Homes Bonus fund by Cheshire East Council.

It comes after Cllr David Marren joined them on patrol for a day and witnessed underlying issues Nantwich faces, including drug dealing, theft, anti-social behaviour and isolation.

A commemorative service was held at the Royal Air Force’s Memorial at Bridgemere to remember the crew of a Wellington bomber which crashed near to the village.

The commemoration took place exactly 74 years to the day the plane disintegrated over Bridgemere, crashing just off the A51 and killing six of the seven crew.
