South Cheshire’s “One in Eleven” Appeal has hit its £1.8 million target after 12 months of tireless fund-raising by supporters. The funds will be used to create a new neonatal unit at Leighton Hospital for families in Crewe, Nantwich and surrounding areas.
Supporters of the One in Eleven Appeal are in Nantwich this week to tell people about its vital fundraising work. They’ll be in the Nantwich branch of Yorkshire Building Society, High Street, to outline what the appeal hopes to achieve and its work so far.
A Rose Queen has helped Leighton Hospital’s maternity unit by raising money for new kit to improve care given to newborn babies. Rebecca Elliott, 2012 Rose Queen for the village of Comberbach, chose the unit as her charity during her reign.

A pensioner was taken to hospital after her car ploughed off a road in Nantwich and crashed into a garden. The 73-year-old woman was driving along the A534 through Acton from Nantwich when the accident happened on a sharp bend.
